Women Empowering Themselves
This website, and sister YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/@TameronNoBackingDownforWomen came from the idea that there is already a lot written about women’s equality, women’s leadership, women’s status, and overall progress, but we still seemed to be stagnating in those areas and more. There seems to be an information overload or fact fatigue or data misapplication. We have all the language and ideas of empowerment, lots of big words such as stereotype threat, imposter syndrome, glass cliff, glass ceiling, innate behavior, learned behavior, micro-events and micro-aggressions, etc. We also have big ideas and conflicting analysis stating that women are not confident, or too confident, not ambitious or too ambitious, not feminine, or too feminine, too cautious or takes too much risk, the list goes on and on. Yet, we still live with that same basic problem, what I call the subtle something that’s hard to spot.
This website is an attempt to look at all this as it manifests in our daily lives through little vignettes that we all can relate to because we either experience them personally, or we witness them and just over look it and/or live with it. That’s what I mean when I say an alternate way of looking at women’s lives. It’s subtle and nuanced which is hard to spot, difficult to describe and difficult to see because we’re so used to living in it. This is a place where I try to look at actions. I hope you recognize the actions and see my point. Stick with me and check back often and if you don’t see the point I’m trying to make with any specific vignette or video, let me know and I’ll try to make it clearer.
